The Brabus engineers and designers have left no stone unturned to make the roadster even sportier and more exclusive. Equipped with the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo twelve-cylinder twin-turbo engine that delivers 730 bhp, the SL 600 turns into the world's most powerful roadster. 0 - 60 mph in 3.8 seconds and 124 mph after just 10.9 seconds speak to its prowess as does its top speed electronically limited to 217 mph. More power by increasing displacement is one of the core philosophies behind the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo engine. The displacement of the twelve-cylinder three-valve engine is increased from 5.5 to 6.3 liters with the help of a billet steel crankshaft, larger cylinder bore, special pistons and piston rods. The conversion also includes re-machining the cylinder heads and fitting them with special camshafts. The peripherals of the twin-turbo engine also play a large role in the engine's power yield. The Brabus engineers have also developed a completely new turbocharging system with two larger turbochargers and more efficient intercoolers. Metal catalysts with low back pressure let the Brabus SV12 S Biturbo displacement engine breathe more freely. The Brabus SV12 S Biturbo Engine Rated power output jumps from standard 517 bhp at 5,000 rpm to 730 bhp at just 5,100 rpm. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 613 lb-ft to 974 lb-ft, available from 2,100 rpm. Custom engine mapping ensures that peak torque in the car is limited electronically to 812 lb-ft. Performance of the powerful two-seater speaks volumes: With a sprint time of 3.8 seconds from rest to 60 mph, 10.5 seconds to 124 mph, 29.5 seconds to 186 mph and an electronically limited top speed of 217 mph, the Brabus SV S 12 Biturbo roadster is one of the fastest sports cars in the world. Form and Function at the Highest Level of Perfection The Brabus aerodynamic-enhancement parts are available for all current SL models and give the SL a sporty yet elegant appearance while at the same time providing aerodynamic benefits. At high speeds they reduce lift on the front axle and thus further improve directional stability. For the latest SL generation the Brabus designers have developed a strikingly styled front fascia whose sophisticated shape reduces lift on the front axle. The large central air inlet further optimizes cooling of engine and front brakes. The high-quality Pur-R-Rim Brabus front fascia with its four auxiliary headlights is designed to be fastened to the original mounting points and thus simply replaces the production bumper. The Brabus rocker panels smooth the airstream between the wheel arches and come with a useful extra feature: Pushing a button on the keyless-entry remote or pulling on an inside door handle activates four LED entrance lights on either side of the car. They illuminate the ground next to the vehicle and help to avoid unfortunate missteps in the dark. The Brabus designer suit for the new SL is rounded out by the Brabus rear fascia with integrated diffuser. It too was designed to replace the original part and fits precisely in its place. Just as important for a customized look are one-piece or multi-piece Brabus Monoblock light-alloy wheels that can be mounted on the two-seater in various designs and diameters ranging from 17 to 20 inches. The largest possible version for the R 230 series SL features multi-piece Brabus Monoblock VI, S or E wheels in size 9Jx20 in front with size 255/30 ZR20 tires. On the rear axle the wheels measure 10.5Jx20 with Pirelli or Yokohama tires in size 305/25 ZR20. For further improving the incredible handling of the latest SL roadster Brabus has developed an electronic module for the ABC suspension that lowers the ride height by about half an inch. |

The heart of this car is the new BRABUS SV 12 increased-displacement engine, created on the basis of the current twelve-cylinder bi-turbo engine. This engine is also available for the CL 600 coupe and S 600 sedan. Nothing beats replacement except more displacement and that is just as valid for the new Mercedes SL 600. Reason enough for the BRABUS engineers to develop the BRABUS SV 12 Biturbo increased-displacement engine. Installation of a custom-designed crankshaft milled from one piece, larger diameter pistons and precision-balanced piston rods increase displacement from standard 5.5 to 6.3 liters. The turbocharged V12 is also fitted with a stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with less flow resistance and metal catalysts. Custom-programmed engine electronics ensure the flawless interaction of all components. Performance of the BRABUS SV 12 bi-turbo roadster is highly impressive: The BRABUS engine sets new performance standards with 640 hp / 471 kW and a peak torque of 1,026 Nm from 1,750 rpm. Power is transferred via a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission that is operated with ARAL high-performance lubricants, as are all BRABUS engines. Performance of the two-seater is equally impressive: 4.3 seconds from rest to 100 km/h, 13.0 seconds to 200 km/h and an electronically limited top speed of 310 km/h make the BRABUS SV 12 bi-turbo roadster one of the fastest sports cars in the world. Largest possible wheels on the SL of the R 230 series are multi-piece BRABUS Monoblock VI wheels in sizes 9Jx20 in front with 255/35 ZR 20 tires, and 10.5Jx20 with 305/25 ZR 20 tires on the rear axle. To further increase the already impressive handling characteristics of the current SL roadster BRABUS developed an electronic module for the ABC suspension, which lowers the ride height by about 15 millimeters. The BRABUS high-performance brake system easily handles even the most extreme braking stress. It features 375 x 36-mm vented and cross-drilled mega-sized discs with 12-piston fixed calipers in front, and vented and cross-drilled 355 x 28-mm discs with six-piston fixed calipers on the rear axle. Unadulterated luxury and individuality in the interior are yet another BRABUS specialty. The list of available exclusive interior options includes sill plates made from genuine carbon with illuminated BRABUS logo, ergonomically shaped safety steering wheels with airbag, steering-wheel shifter and heated rim, a speedometer with 360-km/h scale, and an interior trim kit made from genuine carbon. To upgrade the COMAND system BRABUS offers the integration of a DVD changer, a digital DVB- T television tuner for areas served exclusively by digital TV signals, and the BRABUS Internet system. The latter is operated with the standard buttons of the COMAND system - no additional equipment is necessary. This innovative new development uses its own Internet platform and the GPRS standard to connect to numerous content providers such as traffic or news services, weather forecasts, hotel reservations, and many other useful online services. Carlsson CM50 K – a symbiosis of technique and design (Based on the SL 500) • CM50 K based on the SL 500 with 430 bhp and 650 Nm • Exclusive Carlsson 1/16 Ultra Light forged wheels • Complete range of aerodynamic parts The SL Class first generated a wave of excitement among Mercedes-Benz fans in 1954 and, since then, has enjoyed continuous popularity. Carlsson, the Mercedes-Benz tuning company from Merzig in Southwest Germany has turned its attention to this living legend and, via a supercharged power boost, aerodynamic components and exclusive wheel designs, given the thoroughbred roadster the finishing touches for everyone looking for greater individuality. Breath-taking power increase to 430 bhp The supercharger system for the CM50 K has been developed in close cooperation with Ogura Clutch Co. Ltd. The compressor and the ultra-efficient intercooler are integrated into the engine unit in a technically and visually optimum position between the cylinder banks. The advantages of this high-performance supercharger, which is built under licence from Wankel, include high efficiency (up to over 70 percent), low-wear, quiet running, great durability, immediate response and low weight. Thanks to the Carlsson CM50 K supercharger, the engine output of the SL 500 jumps to a breath-taking 430 bhp / 316 kW coupled with maximum torque of 650 Nm at 4000 rpm. Top speed is 295 km/h while, for the standing start to 100 km/h, the roadster needs just 5.1 seconds. Carlsson aerodynamic kit To round off its handling characteristics, Carlsson has developed an aerodynamic package for the CM50 K. The individual components – Carlsson front spoiler lip, grill inlet and rear skirt inlet – cut lift and give the CM50 K outstanding driving qualities. Naturally, the aerodynamic parts blend in harmoniously with the appearance of the CM50 K. With just a few but effective modifications, Carlsson has succeeded in giving the SL its own personal note. A sporting sound is achieved by the Carlsson rear-silencer system, which is made of stainless steel and has four aerodynamically-optimised oval tailpipes embossed with the Carlsson logo. Moreover, an elaborate absorption system cuts exhaust backpressure and improves the acceleration characteristics of the Carlsson CM50 K. Electronic suspension lowering C-Tronic® SUSPENSION Greater ride comfort in all situations By means of the electronic lowering system C-Tronic® SUSPENSION, the centre of gravity of the vehicle is lowered by up to 30 mm. This results in a sporty look and better handling of the vehicle because of the limitation of roll. A further advantage of the improved aerodynamics, which are achieved by the lowering of the suspension, is the reduction in the front profile of the vehicle. This results in a higher top speed and better fuel consumption. Whilst usual lowering systems for vehicles with electronic suspension confine themselves to lowering the centre of gravity of the vehicle, the innovative technology of the C-Tronic® SUSPENSION allows for automatic intelligent interaction with road conditions. On poor road surfaces and in response to the persistent spring deflection, which they cause, the lowering effect is automatically attenuated in order to ensure the appropriate spring travel required for the most comfortable ride. For lovers of detail: interior appointments by Carlsson Exclusive but restrained interior details create the special Carlsson atmosphere. Particularly pleasing is the Carlsson sports steering wheel, which is covered in a combination of leather and Alcantara and ensures a perfect grip in all situations. The Carlsson pedal set and the door-locking knobs are made of aluminium. On request, account can be taken of individual wishes when deciding on the scope and colour of the leather upholstery. Ultra light forged wheels - Exclusive wheels by Carlsson Wheels are the easiest and most expressive way of giving a car that personal touch. And the choice of wheel is easy if a high technological standard is to be combined with sporting elegance: Carlsson wheels from the 1/16 Ultra Light series with the dimensions 9.5x20“ with 255/30 ZR 20 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres for the front axle and 11x20’’ with 305/25 ZR20 Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres for the rear axle. |
